What Does YYoga Mean?

YYoga is a large corporately-owned yoga and lifestyle company which is based in Vancouver, Canada. They have many studios which offer more than 900 classes every week in Canada. These studios and lifestyle centers form a community which is dedicated to helping people find health and happiness through practicing yoga.

YYoga requires that all their teachers complete a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate.

Yogapedia Explains YYoga

YYoga states that their purpose is to make the world a better place to live. They believe in the power of yoga to help people connect with themselves and those around them, and in doing so, become healthier and happier.

There are more than 12 styles of yoga offered in YYoga studios, including Hatha, Yin, Power, Core and Restorative yoga. They also have a signature style which is called YHot. They have expanded to offer additional yoga and fitness combination classes such as YRide, YFit and TRX.

YYoga was founded by Terry McBride and Lara Kozan in 2007. In 2010, they partnered with Lululemon Athletica, a yoga clothing and apparel company, to provide free yoga classes to the public for a period of time. More recently, in 2012, they launched the YYoga smartphone app.
