Last updated: December 21, 2023

What Does Om Namo Shri Mean?

Om namo shri is the beginning of a mantra that can be used to appreciate and honor any beloved being. The name of the deity, god or even guru to be honored is placed at the end of the mantra.

It is considered a very powerful mantra because it reveres the qualities of the being that it honors and as such, shows a giving and a surrendering of the individual self. Some may consider this a mantra of letting go.
