Yogapedia Explains Vishnu Mantra

There are several Vishnu mantras that yogis may choose to chant:

  • Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya – Considered to be the ultimate Vishnu mantra by devotees, this mantra translates as “Om, I bow to Lord Vasudeva/Lord Krishna.” This particular Vishnu mantra is also used by devotees of Krishna, who is an incarnation of Vishnu. It is believed to bring happiness, success and glory to it’s reciter, and is thought to be an effective mantra for women desiring marital bliss.
  • Om Vishnave Namah or Om Namo Narayanay – Chanting of one of these phrases is believed to bring about general well-being and give those devoted to Vishnu a meaningful life.

Many yogis believe that choosing to use one of the above mantras empowers and blesses the reciter, reduces anxiety and depression, causes the reciter to be more compassionate, evokes peace and increases health.
