Revolved squatting toe balance is an intermediate twist that improves balance and provides a range of other physical benefits.
In this pose, the yogi drops into a deep squat with knees together, raises onto the toes and rests the buttocks on the heels. With the hands in prayer position, the yogi twists to one side so the elbow is outside his opposite leg. The gaze is toward the sky.
In Sanskrit, the posture is called parivrtta samatvamasana. This pose is also sometimes considered a variation of revolved chair pose (parivrtta utkatasana).
