Yogapedia Explains Vandana

Vandana can refer to one of the seven classifications of highest worship, or anuttara puja, which are taught by certain Buddhist schools.

Vandana is included in several popular mantras, including the Saraswati Vandana mantra. In this context, vandana simply means “holy song” and praises Saraswati, the goddess of learning and the arts. Devotees of Saraswati, who include many musicians and scientists, may chant the Saraswati Vandana mantra daily to bring them good luck.
