What Does Yogic Seal Pose Mean?

Yogic seal pose, or psychic union pose, is a seated forward bend posture that promotes flexibility and awakens kundalini.

To enter the pose, the practitioner assumes lotus pose (padmasana). The hands are brought behind the back and the fingers interlock. Without raising the buttocks from the floor, the body folds forward so the forehead rests on the floor.

Yogic seal pose is called yoga mudrasana in Sanskrit.

Regular practice of yogic seal pose awakens kundalini power when used in a spiritual practice. Some of the physical benefits of the pose include:

  • Stretches the spine and the back

In a variation of yogic seal pose, the chin is placed on the floor and the hands hold the feet from behind.
