Last updated: December 21, 2023

What Does Churna Mean?

In Ayurveda, Churna refers to any mixture of powdered or mixed herbs and or minerals, used as a medicinal treatment for illness or disease. To make Churna, specific ingredients are cleaned properly, dried thoroughly, pulverized and sieved. The resulting powder will retain its potency for up to one year if stored correctly in an airtight container.

Churna is generally favorable as medicine due to its particle size, since the smaller the particle, the greater the absorption rate in the gastrointestinal tract.
